After putting this up on facebook, Ruh bhai showed me his version of the word Qalam which he done a few years back, and it looked shockingly similar! Its kinda funny coz i aspire to be as good as him some day (inshaAllah), so its like taking the whole ‘following in his footsteps’ and ‘ great minds think alike’ to a whole new level. the night before i also saw a piece by Samir Malik which looked kinda similar to the 1st hub piece that i did. it makes you wonder if whether you can be ‘unique’ anymore. it seems as though most variations have been covered, so even if you think you created something original, somewhere out there somebody else may have already done something similar. Guess we will have to keep innovating with new mediums to keep the sense of originality alive.
p.s Islam Expo was wickid!!

This is a collaboration with Teakster. i did the calligraphy and he did everything else (background, effects, etc). It reads ‘noor’ which is ‘light’ in arabic.

So i finally watched Batman Begins last night. i know, im slow. Especially as im a BIG Batman buff. My excuses for not watching it sooner: it didnt look all that great, i clocked the game and i didnt think Bale suited the role (i wanted to play Batman
). But as The Dark Knight is coming out and this one looks good i thought i should stop sulking and just wacth it. it wernt as bad as i expected (or maybe my expectations were REALLY low). Next one will have the Joker though, which is destined to be good. and it seems as though they made him psychotic as he should be. we’ll see how it plays out.
Anyway as i was just randomly browsing the net, i come across a Muslim artist who makes comic strips! Being the nerd i am, i’m obviously gonna bookmark his page n check it on the regular lol. Check out Br Shaik’s work ![]()

This one reads ‘hub’ which means ‘love’ in Arabic. i think this is better than my previous version. what says you?

The VD portfolio is like a gallery representing the true reflection of Islamicly inspired art with a hint of western flavour. As most of the pieces are digitally created, they utilise the best of modern day technology with the traditional calligraphic scripts used by man for hundreds of years. The outcome; a beautiful fusion of old school with new school, which are visually appealing whilst also incorporating strong beliefs. Hence the term ‘Visual Dhikr’.
As a beginner in the field myself, I study other artists work a lot. Ruh bhai is the one person who I most admire and wish to learn from. He works across a variety of media platforms and always manages to excel, something which not every artist can do. Simply put, Ruh bhai’s work is phenomenal.
Check out his work on his work at www.visualdhikr.com

Was crawling the web looking at art when i came across a site with some of the most magnificent calligraphy ever. the Ozcay brothers have some super talent. was in awe over their work. how i wish i had such skill…. but all i can do is try so iA will be going to a calligraphy workshop tomorrow by Samir Malik. learnt so much last time from him. hope this time is even better.
Salam Cafe is a hilarious comedy show from Australia. Defo worth watching
Islam Expo looks more and more attractive as it gets closer. Not only is Ruh gonna showcase new canvases, not only are Outlandish gonna be performing, but i hear AA may be doing some live painting! i cant wait!! ![]()

The new iGraphic site is done, again. This time we will keep it up longer than last time hopefully :p
Me n Mehedi have been working hard on the new site for the last few days. But there is no rest for the wickid, we got a ton of work in our hands and it looks like we cant take any more work on for the next month or so. But thats kool coz we got some projects which i am really excited about, like the SISTERS magazine advert is gonna rock! and our first mini documentary!! might not be the most exciting topic, but its our first ever and we are hyped.
Anyway, away from work, i came across something interesting (to me at least) Midway games are set to release a game which will square off the Mortal Kombat characters vs the DC comics characters :s wired as it may be, i still wanna get it coz i wanna kick evry1s ass as Batman!

Went to see the London Eye the other night (yeh just like a tourist!) and saw a lil skate part type place near it. it had graffiti all over the place, on the wall, pillars, floor benches, everywhere! saw a couple of nice pieces so took pics

and this 1 is just for being a tourist….
